Like a museum, the Gallery consists of nine Exhibit areas or Collections encompassing everything from Team Photos to Odds & Ends. Browse through the hundreds of artificats that have been contributed by the New Jersey hockey community. Admission is always free. Gallery Welcome to the NJHH Gallery. Like a museum, the Gallery consists of ten Exhibit areas or Collections encompassing everything from Team Photos to Odds & Ends. You can view any Collection by hovering over the Gallery tab at the top of the screen to reveal the list. Before you begin exploring for the first time read the tips and instructions below to better understand how to navigate each Collection and learn how to download anything in the archive. With your help, we want to make the NJHH Gallery the one-stop-source for all things related to New Jersey amateur hockey history. Dig out those old artifacts you have stored away or displayed up on your wall and share them for all to see. It's the right thing to do. Submit your artifacts Navigation Click any Gallery link to start exploring a Collection. Each artifact is displayed in a box including the title, image, contributor and any additional information. The Collections are sorted (mostly) by year to simplify your browsing experience. To see an expanded view of any image (except for Programs & PDF Documents) click the image. Click the X in the upper right corner of the screen to return to the Collection. If you would like to print or save the image to your phone/computer, click Go to link at the bottom/middle of the screen. This will open a separate browser tab featuring the selected image. You can print the image or right click to magnify or select "Save image as" to save to your phone/computer. It's easy. Programs (PDF files) and PDF Documents Collections are a bit different. When you click on an image (a photo of the front page of the program or document) in the Collection, the PDF file will load into your browser. You can view the PDF file page by page, save it to your phone/computer or print the file. As some of these files are huge - 50 to 200MB, and can be nearly 100 pages, use caution when saving or printing. The file size for each PDF file is listed in the Collection box. Search This site has a robust search tool that will surface most anything you're trying to find. Use these guidelines to optimize your search results. If your name is "Jim Skywalker", leave off the "jim" and only search for "skywalker " (without the double quotes). Otherwise, your search results will include every reference to Jim in our extensive database. Or, you can try searching "skywalker jim", which should surface the references to skywalker at the top of the search page. Likewise, if searching for 1980-81 Rockets stuff, enter rockets 1980-81 , which will surface the most relevant info at the top of the page. When you click a link on the Search page, a large view of the artifact will open. The same guidelines as above apply. Click the image for a full screen view. Click X in the upper right corner to return to the Collection. Click Go to link to magnify, download or print. While on the Collection page for the artifact you selected, you can use the Next & Previous buttons to move forward or back through the Collection. To return to the Search Results page, click the Back button. Help Us Fill in the Blanks We have added thousands of names to the dataset from program rosters, player statistics and personal memory to make this search tool as complete as possible. Though, there are more than a thousand nameless faces in our Team Photos Collection. Can you help us fill in the blanks? It could help others - maybe the child of a loved one find a photo they didn't know existed. If you can identify the faces of a good bunch of players in any of the Team Photos in the Collection, please use the form below to tell us about it. Only provide names if you're 100% certain of the person and the spelling of their name. Please don't use the form to submit only one or two names. We all have day jobs and maintaining this site is a lot of (volunteer) work. Enter your results as FRONT ROW; Name1, Name2, Name3 , etc. MIDDLE ROW: Name 1, Name 2, Name3 , and so on - reading from left to right. If you're not sure of a few names in a photo, no worries. Use an example like this; Darth Vader, Yoda, BLANK, Luke Skywalker - entering the word BLANK as a placeholder in the row of names. Displaying most of the names is much better than none. Please provide your email address should we have any questions. Thank you for your help. FILL IN THE BLANKS SUBMISSION First name Last name Email Team Photo (Enter exactly as it appears in the Collection) Player/Coaches Names (FRONT ROW, MIDDLE ROW, BACK ROW, etc. ) Submit

Help us to preserve New Jersey's hockey history for future generations by adding your artifacts to the archive. Submissions Do you have New Jersey ice hockey artifacts; photos, jerseys, jackets, programs, stuff tucked away in your attic, basement or closet? Please consider submitting your artifacts for all to see and share. There's no telling how your simple act of kindness may impact another's life. On occasion, hockey old timer spouses, siblings and children have contacted us asking if we might have something in the archive - maybe a photo when their husband, brother or dad was a youngster. It might be for a special birthday, or sadly the only connection they may have to the past after his demise. Think of the smiles when we're able to fulfill these requests. NJHH derives no financial benefit from hosting this site. We do it solely for the benefit of you and others, giving all a glimpse into New Jersey's amateur hockey past. Review the submission guidelines, then use the form below to tell us what you have. We'll get back to you with instructions on how to submit archives or mail them to us so they can be properly scanned and formatted (all submissions will be handled with care and returned promptly after scanning). You can use the form to request information about a specific artifact or to request a transparent PNG file of any image from the Gallery. Name Email Address Choose an option Question/Comment Submit Thanks for submitting! DOCUMENT SUBMISSIONS Please note the following guidelines: -Images or documents must be related to players, teams and events prior to January 1, 2001. We may choose to expand the dateline in the future, though for now this site will be limited to events from the 20th century. -All photo images should be clear, high-resolution scans, saved in JPG format. 300dpi minimum - 600dpi preferred. Taking a photo of a photo with your smartphone will not be accepted. If you don't have the ability to scan original photos, you can send them to us, and we'd be happy to scan them for you. -Team photos can be color or black and white. Photos must be accompanied by the season, name of organization, and age level. -Player photos must be posable position, like a baseball card. All of the above criteria for team photos applies, with the addition of your full name. Individuals MAY ONLY submit their own player images. NOTE: If you don't have the capability to scan photos properly, you can mail them to us, and we will carefully scan and return the original photos via First Class Mail. Contact us using the form to the left for more information on submitting documents. -Team jerseys and jackets may be submitted as good, clear photos using a high-resolution setting on your camera or phone. It's recommended to submit photos of both the front and back of the garment. It's best to take straight overhead photos, with the sleeves folded in. You can browse the Team Jersey & Jackets Gallery for examples. The background area should be white or a light color. Placing the garment on a light tile floor or white sheet works best. Team crests/logos may be submitted as a good, closeup photo of the front of a jersey. Allow at least two inches of jersey area beyond the crest in the photo. Try to get the crest/logo as flat as possible to remove distortion in the image. -Patches & pins may be submitted as individual photos, or in a group. The patches/pins should be photographed against a light surface - like a piece of white printer paper. A short description identifying each patch/pin is required. Shiny pins have a tendency to create glare. Take straight or slightly angled overhead shots - moving the camera a bit to minimize glare. If you get too close to the object you're photographing, it could blur the image. Make sure your photos are crisp and clear before submitting - Odds & Ends can be submitted as individual photos or high-resolution scans, using the same guidelines indicated above. They can include posters, pennants, off-ice group photos of players, bumper stickers - most anything related to New Jersey amateur hockey from the 20th century. Browse the Gallery for examples. - All Club and Tournament Programs, or other multi-page documents must be mailed/submitted to NJ Hockey History for scanning. There are several critical steps involved that can't be easily described. Scanned images will be cleaned and tweaked to the best of our 2024 abilities. All documents will be handled with the greatest of care and returned promptly via Priority Mail. NOTE: Several contributors have chosen to send us their entire collection; jerseys, programs, patches & pins, team photos and anything else worthy of displaying in the archive. We're happy to photograph/scan and catalog all the artifacts and return them to you safely and promptly via Priority Mail. Contact us using the form to the left for more information on submissions. -All submissions will have a "Contributed by" with your name added to the archived image, acknowledging your contribution.
