He played in several local rinks growing up, most notably Branch Brook Arena which became his second home for the next twelve years. He played for Garden State, the NJ Rockets, the Essex County Chiefs, the NJ Golden Blades and Seton Hall Prep. He was well known for his booming slap shot and bone crushing hits. Glenn was a four Varsity letterman (1979-1983) at Seton Hall Prep. Under the tutelage of Dave Sloan, Joe Hannabach, Norm Kelly and most importantly John Warchol, he continued to grow and develop his skills, and helped lead all of his teams to a better than .500 winning percentage every season. He attended Summer Camp at South Mountain Arena and all available after school clinics at Branch Brook Arena. To further his skating skills and at the urging of the late Bob Vietor, he started refereeing at the age of twelve.     Michael Nardello | Hometown: Clinton, NY < Back Nardello, Michael Birth Year: 1923 Hometown: Clinton, NY Died: 11/3/2006 Previous Next A true fan and participant in hockey in the tri-state area passed away November 3, 2006. Michael grew up in the Clinton, NY area, and eventually settled in Emerson, NJ. He had two passions: his family and hockey. Michael's passion for hockey began as a young boy, playing for the New York Rovers, a farm team of the New York Rangers, while at St. Francis Prep in Brooklyn, NY. During his military service after high school, he played for the famous Coast Guard Cutters known as Uncle Sam's Best Hockey Team. Mike was one of the rare New York-born Rangers prospects. A high school star, the fleet forward played in the Metropolitan Amateur Hockey League for the Manhattan Arrows when he was spotted by Rangers manager Lester Patrick. Eventually, Nardella became the only New Yorker to play for the Coast Guard varsity. Michael was a hockey Hall of Farner at St. Lawrence University . Following college, he played for the Clinton Comets in Clinton, NJ and became a high school coach.     John Warchol | Hometown: Livingston, NJ < Back Warchol. John Birth Year: 1934 Hometown: Livingston, NJ Died: 2/17/2022 Previous Next John J. Warchol, 87, of Livingston NJ, passed away on Thursday the 17th of February 2022, peacefully at home which was always his wish. Born in New York City to the late John and Mabel Warchol, he resided in Livingston for most of his life. He was the beloved father of his three children, John, Wendy and Laurie and was a retired lifelong employee and engineer with Essex County NJ while also serving in the National Guard. John Warchol was one of the most revered Ice Hockey coaches in the tristate area. During his coaching career, John led Seton Hall Prep to three State titles and a record nine Gordon Cups. He was named the Star Ledger coach of the year in 1982 and was recognized by the NJ Professional Hockey Writer’s Association for his enormous contributions to youth hockey. In 1992, John was inducted into the Seton Hall Prep Hall of Fame and in 1995-96 he was the recipient of the New Jersey Devils John McMullen Service Award for Hockey in NJ and then in 2010, he was also inducted into the NJ HS Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
