In 1984, the Essex County Chiefs PeeWee AA team participated in a Shootout with the Washington Junior Capitals, between periods of an Edmonton Oilers vs. Washington Capitals game on a Sunday afternoon in February at the Capital Centre in Landover, MD with a crowd of 15,000+ cheering them on. Mike Buteau and Brad Pearson were the Essex County players who participated. Jim Szymanski, team Trainer, was on the ice with the boys snapping photos with his Canon 35MM at three frames per second. Mike scored two goals (both glove side) and Brad stopped all three at the other end for the 2-0 win!
